A Community event featuring the celebration of the life of Jack Yantis and a baby shower for his daughter, Sarah, who is expecting will be held on October 8.

It begins at 2 p.m. with the baby shower at Seven Devils Cafe, 116 Illinois Ave, and then there'll be a barbeque across the street at the park.

Yantis was shot and killed by two Adams County Sheriff deputies on the highway next to his ranch on November 1, 2015 when he brought a rifle out to euthanize a bull that had been hit by a car.  His wife, Donna, witnessed the shooting and had a heart attack.  She has since recovered.

After a long nine month investigation, state and federal investigators concluded that there was not enough evidence to charge the deputies.

A group called "Justice For Jack" formed shortly after Yantis' death and they've now grown to more than 3,400 people strong.  Justice For Jack is a big part of who's putting on this community event.
