The city of Ketchum, Idaho has banned the use of all phones while driving. Could Boise be next to implement the law?

The ban has been enforced since Wednesday. Cellphones cannot be used while driving in Ketchum, Idaho. This not only includes texting, but talking on your phone while behind the wheel.

According to KTVB, the city council approved the ordinance back on April 4th but it was just put into place.

Drivers will be given a warning for the first year the ban is in place, but if cellphone use is proven to be the cause of an accident, the $100 fine will be imposed.

Ketchum is the second town in Idaho to ban cellphones while driving; Sandpoint was the first city. Hailey and Bellevue are also looking at implementing the cellphone ban.

So far, only texting while driving is against the law in Boise, but it's expected that many other cities will start implementing an overall cellphone ban as well.
