A small part of Boise just died along with a beautiful 8 year old boy.

Rashid Rashid passed away from an aggressive form of cancer Saturday with his mother by his side.  You can help with funeral costs along with medical bills by clicking HERE.

Rashid had been an honorary police officer for the Boise Police Department and an honorary Bronco for the Boise State University football team.  Rashid made headlines in August when he helped the police solve a crime.

Most of us wake up in the morning, have breakfast, go to work, take care of kids, and start all over the next day.  Rashid lived and loved life very differently.  Knowing each day could be your last would do that to you.  Breathing in every second of every day like it was your last breath of air would be something.  This kid knew life like most of us never will.  His cute, little smile and radiant energy made us fall in love with him.  Even if it was only for a short time.

Having children of my own, I can't imagine the grief and pain those close to him feel.  I can't even pretend to know.  My heart aches for this family.

The Boise Police Department's Facebook Page announced yesterday "Officer Rashid, "Tough," you will be missed. But, your courage and spirit will be carried on by your brothers and sisters, and you will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace, Officer Rashid, We Have the Watch."

Coach Bryan Harsin tweeted "Once a Bronco always a Bronco.  RIP Rashid you will be missed & always remembered."

Boise lost part of what makes it the greatest place to live in the country.  A young, innocent, beautiful boy we could all call our own.  Today, he's with our Heavenly Father looking down.  And I can't help but think... maybe, he's wearing blue and orange with a BPD badge on.  R.I.P. Rashid!
