The K9 Officer that was shot last week on the Boise bench has died this afternoon.

Thank you so much for your service, Jardo. You will be missed.

The Boise Police Department shared the news in a news release today:

Jardo was shot one time through the chest on Friday while working as a K9 member of our Special Operations Unit. He and his team were searching for a suspect when that suspect opened fire, shooting Jardo and two other officers.  One officer remains in the hospital; the other injured officer was released from the hospital the next day.  Jardo underwent surgery and seemed to be on his way to a full recovery. He attended a candlelight vigil for law enforcement on Tuesday night and visited the police station on Wednesday, seeking out BPD members for every bit of petting he could obtain. Sadly, he passed away from complications Wednesday night.
