Back in the "good ole days", I attended Boise High School.  I was the school mascot and also did the announcements each day for the students and teachers.  I consider those experiences some of the most important and influential of my life.  Today, Boise High is offering a great experience for both the future of the Treasure Valley and our awesome kids!

The Community Leadership class offered by Boise High is unique to the Valley. So far Boise High is the only school offering the program.  With both semester and year long service projects, students can do these both in a group and as a solo project.  The projects vary from families in need to homelessness to mental health awareness.  They all benefit our community and create lasting impressions on the students dedicating their time to these causes.

Idaho has some incredible schools, and with our growth, we are building many year by year.  Since I went to Boise High understand that I am, and will always be, a Boise Brave (so if I get a little excited...you know why).  I met the most amazing people and had the best high school experience I could have imagined. My grades were never that great, but that didn't matter much. I felt connected and a part of something fabulous and so I'm super proud of Boise High for offering such an amazing class to its students and in turn community.  What an incredible idea and I sure hope other schools take note and realize how much our youth can contribute and be inspired by having the opportunity to take a class like Community Leadership.  The little things along the way seem to make big differences later on in life.

"The goal of the class is to give kids an opportunity to volunteer in a way that they're really passionate about,"  The class is taught by Stephanie Phillips.  Read the full story here.
