Amy Larson loves adventure so she’s always on the lookout for exciting, fun, and free things to do with family and friends. Serving as the Snake River Stampede’s ‘blogaroo’ for three seasons, Amy went on to become a published author, food reviewer, editor, and writer for several local and state magazines, turning many small Idaho towns into ‘Spotlight Cities’. Her current blog and Facebook page, “Appetite for Idaho” dishes up generous helpings of often-humorous, frequently entertaining short cuts for anyone wanting to explore the people, places and things of the Gem State. She is currently working on multiple local writers’ manuscripts, and her own “Appetite for Idaho: The Book”, a compilation of her favorite Idaho discoveries.

Gather at the Village
I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I feel a certain amount of affinity with the Village at Meridian.
In the fall of 2103, Eagle Magazine assigned me to write an article about the emerging Village on the prime corner of Eagle and Fairview, one of the Treasure Valley’s busiest intersections...

If you like art and animals, this is your weekend. Cutting horses and culture abound.

You know…if a person worked it right, they could eat their way for free clear through Saturday with hot dogs, Easter egg candy, and the like. Below are a list of places to play, all week (and all weekend) long.

Are we past the cabin fever? Who knows, it’s Idaho. It could be snowing again by next week. For now, it’s time to get out and have some fun, hear some music, and attend events that spark the imagination, like the North End Organic Nursery’s Grand Opening, where they’re talking about their plans to help Garden City evolve into the garden it once was...

Ohhhh, Idaho. You’re so eclectic! Exactly why I love you. Where else can you celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend with a trip to the Old State Pen, organ music in a huge cathedral, watching World Cup cricket while eating Ethiopian food at an International Market, snowmobile races and a chili cookoff...

Getting through January is the main thing. I heard someone say once that they’d like to kick January right in the teeth. By mid-February on, you’re thinking Spring, and it’s all going to be okay.
