A crazy set of circumstances has led to three different Idaho school buses being crashed into this morning and all three crashes were at different times and different places.  The crashes have led to four different children being hospitalized.

The first crash took place on Franklin Rd near Linder Rd in the Boise area.  At about 7:15 a.m. the school bus pulled out and was hit by a gray car which sent the bus spinning and ultimately flipping over onto its side.  No children were on the bus at the time of the accident.  The bus driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution but it looks as though everyone involved in this accident is o.k.  Meridian Police say it looks as if the driver of the bus was at fault.

Accident number two took place around 7:50 this morning at Falls Avenue East and Eastland in Twin Falls.  A pickup truck rear-ended the bus and the driver of the pickup has been cited for driving too close.  Again, no children were present during this accident but two minutes later in an area very close by, an 11-year-old student was struck by a car while he was walking across the street.  According to KTVB, the student was taken to St. Luke's Hospital where reports say he's suffered only minor injuries.  The woman driving the car was cited for not yielding to pedestrians.

Only minutes later, police were called over to Wendell Street and Falls Avenue West in Twin Falls where another bus had been hit by a driver that failed to yield at a stop sign.  There were six children on this bus.  Three of them were taken to the hospital as a precaution but it seems as if they'll be o.k.

Police officers are saying that sunlight played a role in all three accidents.  Twin Falls Police Sgt. Ryan Howe said...

“It is so important that children make eye contact with drivers before they step off the sidewalk to cross a street just to make sure the driver of that vehicle does see them and is stopping for them to cross.  Although the crashes we have seen over the past two weeks have not been the fault of the pedestrians, it is better and safer to wait a few extra seconds before crossing than to cross and risk getting hit.”
