No one looks forward to going to the DMV, but the lines are horrifically long right now around the Treasure Valley. Here's what's going on.

The Idaho Transportation Department is experiencing a huge statewide outage at all area DMV's.

According to KTVB, the outage is because of an issue with the software department's vendor in Gemalto, Idaho.

The situation has left an uncounted number of people without a drivers license or state identification.

The Idaho Transportation Department point out that although they don't know when the system will be working properly working again and they haven't been able to pinpoint the problem, they do say that all customer information is secure.

Registration and title services are still working properly at the DMV, but before you head out to get your driver's license or state ID check the Idaho Transportation Department's website or Twitter account for an update on how their system is currently functioning.
