Why I Dislike Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and if you're into it, then it's crunch time. Or maybe you're like me, and could care less about the 'holiday.'

*Disclaimer: just because I don't like it, doesn't mean you shouldn't. Not trying to change anyone's mind, just bloggin' here. :)

Here are some reasons why I really don't like Valentine's Day.

FLOWERS AND CANDY: Listen, I like receiving flowers just like the next girl. But I hate to receive something because the person feels obligated to do so. I've talked to a few men who don't care for the holiday, but said they're still getting something because they feel, they "have" to. Plus, there's only about two of those chocolates in the box that are actually good.
MEDIOCRE DATE: I worked in the service industry on and off for about 6 years. And take it from me Valentine's Day is the WORST day for a date. You're going to spend way more time waiting for a seat at a restaurant, who-let's face it-doesn't do their best work, or give their best service because they're trying to pump people in and out as fast as they can! Granted, there are those good eggs that do provide great service because they want to give their patrons the best....but it'll be an even longer wait time.
IS IT ABOUT LOVE?: I think EVERY day should be about love. You should be told you're appreciated and loved every day. There shouldn't be one day of the year when people are compelled to tell someone how much they care, because they feel guilty if they don't.
LOT'S MORE GOING ON: February 14th is not only Valentine's Day it's also my Mom's birthday! Three short days later, it's my birthday, then the day after THAT is me and my fiancee's anniversary! So it's kind of a busy week, and I'd rather go out when there aren't a million people celebrating 'love.'
