I've tried them all:  Mediterranean, Organic, Vegan, South Beach, All Meat All the Time, 8 Grapefruits and 8 powdered donuts a day...okay, I made that last one up. Although there was a time in my college days where I really DID eat 8 grapefruits and 8 powered donuts a day.  I'm not saying it was a HEALTHY diet...

Which one is best?  I asked Stacy Beeson, a registered dietitian and one of the go-to people at St. Luke's.  I loved, loved, loved her answer.  She said that the best eating plan is one that has a combination of all kinds of food and is something you can stick with for the rest of your life. Of course, I asked her if this eating plan could include my two faves, cheese and red wine.  Stacy said that I could have them "in moderation."

"Define moderation," I said.  Stacy suggested that I have a "treat" a couple times a week of an ounce of my favorite cheese and a glass of wine.

Her suggestion centered around the fact that I'd been eating cheese and other higher calorie foods so much that they weren't a special time for me anymore. They were a matter of course.  So, now I have cheese and wine only on Saturdays.  I have something to look forward to and I savor those moments when I eat the cheese and sip the wine.

Yet ANOTHER reason to look forward to the weekend!
