Idaho’s Covered in Smoke, but Where’s the Fire?
Where is all the smoke coming from? We've got some wildfires burning in Idaho, but a lot of the smoke we're dealing with here in the Treasure Valley is coming from farther north!
The smoke in the air has us at an "Orange" air quality alert today and the past several days. There are several large wildfires burning north of the border in British Columbia, Canada and the weather patterns are bringing the smoke down through Washington, Oregon and right into the Treasure Valley.
There's a website you can visit to see where all of the current wildfires are burning, and the subsequent air quality in areas affected by the fires. Idaho Smoke Information has a blog spot with current conditions and maps. It's pretty comprehensive and thorough.
Hats off to the men and women working hard to battle those fires. It takes a massive effort to contain wild fires like this. Great job firefighters and support crews!
