What You Can Expect From The Virus Going Around Town
I'm on day eight. You heard me right, day eight of this nasty virus going around town. I had no idea what I was in for when it hit me last Thursday, but here's how it's played out and what's worked to help curb this terrible cold.
I've been out of work for three days now. This is coming from a girl who never takes time off of work because she's sick, but man have I been sick.
The "sore throat" virus that I've seen going around the Treasure Valley and I've heard reports of it all the way down into Utah where my family lives plays out like this.
Day1: "Man, my throat is a little scratchy!" I can't get sick. Stock up on Vitamin C.
Day 2: Body Aches, super tired, scratchy throat, I just want to crawl in bed and die.
Day 3: Ya know I think I'm o.k., super Mom press on, but I was ready to go to bed early.
Day 4: I got this. I'm on the mend. Glad I took all that Vitamin C.
Day 5: What's this? I sound like a chain smoker! Congestion sets in, hacking up a lung.
Day 6: Can't talk. All that comes out is squeaks, and I cough until I almost pass out.
Day 7: Super tired. Chain smoker voice. Headache sets in. Uncontrollable cough.
Day 8: Still sound like I smoke three packs a day, but my body feels significantly better.
So, there you have it. If you get that little lump in your throat, you're in for the long haul. Rick just started feeling signs yesterday, so the "Rick and Carly" show is officially a germy mess! Thanks to listener Steve, who brought us cough drops, Emergen-C, and fancy water to keep us hydrated.
I've tried to do all the right things from the get-go with this nasty bug, Airborne, lots of tea with honey and lemon, Emergen-C, ginger, apple cider vinegar, I've tried it all. Probably the most helpful thing for me has been using a nebulizer that I have here at the house, but you have to get a prescription from the doctor for that, and I think the only thing it's really helped me with is getting my voice back a little sooner.
You've been warned. If you catch it, I am really sorry. Oh, and p.s. it is super contagious, so hide from the entire world for a week if you can! Good luck!
