Father’s Day is this weekend and we talked about the one lesson your dad taught you that you have carried with you!

For me, it was to carry the one, actually…that is a joke in our family and to this day my dad will still say “Damnit Alana CARRY THE ONE!” It stemmed from doing my math homework and I absolutely could not understand how to carry the one and him completely losing it.  But.  My dad has taught me a lot more.  Beyond anything I am so blessed to have a dad who thinks I’m cool enough to hang out with.  When I was a kid he took me on the golf course, would watch afternoon cartoons with me, and now when I see my parents we sit outside, him with his stogie and whiskey, and me and my mom with our beer.  I could not imagine having a better man in my life…he’s the best!  He always taught me to just show up.  As long as you show up and are present you will see success.  Show up.  Work hard.

Shawna called and said her dad taught her to always go to a funeral.  She said he told her if you miss a birthday or wedding you can make up for it with a card or a phone call, but if you miss a funeral you will regret it.

Nicole said that her dad taught her to always put one foot in front of the other.  Dee told us on Facebook: In his unexpected passing I took to heart that tomorrow is never promised....
