A 5-year-old boy with autism is in the hospital after being hit by a car last night around 9:15 p.m. in Meridian.

Being a father of five, it's hard for me to imagine one of my kids, at 5-years-old wandering around in the middle of Franklin Road at 9:15 p.m. at night.  This kid is lucky to be alive and there's a lot of blame being thrown around.

He was hit in the middle of Franklin Road by Rose Circle and luckily the car was not going very fast.  The child suffers a broken femur and I'm sure he'll be in a lot of pain, but nothing life threatening.

He's temporarily been placed into the custody of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
