I'm so anxious to float the Boise River. Is it time yet?!

I've been waiting oh so un-patiently to go for a float down the river! I haven't been since moving here yet and my sister and her family are coming for a visit next week. We really want to go for a float, but is it safe yet?

The river needs to reach 1500 cubic feet per second before fire crews can clear debris from the river banks and we will be safe to float down the Boise River.

According to the Idaho Statesman, as of last night it was down to 2,660 cubic feet per second which means the river is still moving too fast and the water is too high to float. Luckily it is slowing down. Earlier this week we were at 3,200 cfs. The sad news, the river is not expected to open for float season until the 4th of July weekend.

It's definitely a late start. In the past 15 years, 3 years had the river open July 1st and one season started July 15th. In comparison, last year the river opened to floaters on June 12th.

You can check the ADA County Facebook page to get updates on when exactly the river will open for floaters.
