The song "Girl Crush" has been the subject of controversy as of late. As a result, many country stations and country radio personalities across America have come under attack from people that lashed out without having all the facts. Wow 104.3 was no exception. In the past week or so, we have had nasty e-mails, threats, voice mails calling us cowards or worse (of course those people didn't leave their name or number so we could call them back, ironically), and various other words of condemnation. I did learn a few new adjectives though. So I guess there's that.

The reality is - this is a prime case where the national media REALLY got it wrong. Not one station, WOW 104.3 included, pulled the song. Because the national media got it wrong (did I mention they got it REALLY wrong?) some of us at WOW got made into pariahs and came under personal attack from many different directions.

Here's the really sad part: Of all the e-mails we answered regarding this mess, and we answered a lot, only one person replied with an apology for not having their facts straight before lashing out (Thanks Sharon <insert wink and smile here>).

In my opinion, that doesn't bode well for society or America. Have we really become that quick to condemn others and reluctant to take ownership of our faults when proven wrong? I seriously hope not.

If you would like to read the real story of how the national media got this story so wrong, Country Aircheck Weekly has a great article that says it all. You can read the article for yourself.

"A 'Crush' To Judgment: Bias, bigotry, questionable decision-making and a rush to judgment, the "Girl Crush" "controversy" has it all. Despite the headlines, not a single station has pulled the song. Find out exactly how national media got it all wrong. All that and more in last night's (3/30) edition."
