The father of Bronco Football just turned 100 years old!

In 1947, Lyle Smith took over a small Junior College program in Boise, Idaho.  Yes... I said Junior College.  That takes us back doesn't it?  Lyle's first 3 seasons as coach ended the same each year.  Undefeated!  By the time he was done coaching he had 156 wins and an NJCAA National Championship.  Look it up if you don't know what that is, because most of us don't.

Later on Lyle became Boise Junior College's Athletic Director and led the program as it moved into the NCAA program in the 1970's.

Lyle Smith just turned 100 years old.  In honor of him hitting the century mark, Boise State University's head football coach Bryan Harsin presented former Coach Smith with the very first ever Boise State triple digit jersey.

You can still catch Coach Smith at Bronco games cheering, analyzing, and dissecting the games.  His true love and passion for our Broncos is 2nd to none.  Happy Birthday Coach Smith!
