A 16-year-old boy has been shot by an Idaho deputy. Here's what happened.

The altercation happened Friday night in Chubbock. The 16-year-old tried running from a traffic stop. The unidentified teen was actually a passenger in the car and not behind the wheel, but decided to run from the scene for reasons unknown.

According to KTVB, the deputy caught up with the teen, that's when the altercation ensued and it ended with the deputy shooting the 16-year-old.

Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen told the Idaho State Journal that the reason the deputy shot the teen was that "he believed his life was in danger."

The teens' condition is currently unknown, but the incident is continuing to be investigated, and we'll keep you posted as this story develops.
