A sapling taken from the only tree left standing after the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 was just planted in Meridian.

I'll never forget where I was when the Oklahoma City bombing occurred on April 19, 1995. It was my 14th birthday; I was in my bedroom getting ready for school when I heard the news on my little TV. It was the first time I had ever realized there is pure evil in this world. My heart ached for the victims, their families, and I lost a piece of innocence that day.

After the bombing one tree stood tall after 168 people were killed and hundreds injured in the federal building. It's been named "The Survivor Tree" and it has started other survivor trees around the country.

The sapling is the first from this tree to make its way to Idaho. It was planted on Friday, which was Arbor Day, at Meadow Lake Village in Meridian. The tree will serve as a message of hope and healing when we face our own personal tragedies. To read more on this story click HERE.
