Standoff In Emmett Continues

A man barricaded himself inside his Emmett home last night and Police have been in a standoff now for hours.

Part of the reason the Emmett School District canceled school today was because of this standoff.  The safety of our kids and their families is the #1 priority.  Weather was also a factor in the cancellation.

So what's happening?  Who is this guy and what's going on?  We know that officers were able to safely remove a woman from the residence but the man inside won't budge.  He is alone in the building and police believe he has access to several guns.

As of now, Central Road is blocked off between Big 4 Avenue and Mesa.  We'll keep you posted as details come in.
