With record snowfall and then rain and warmer temperatures in the forecast, we are in serious risk of flooding here in the Treasure Valley. Here's what you can do to prevent it.

According to KTVB, residential areas are at the greatest risk. With everyone shoveling the snow from their driveways and sidewalks into the street many storm drains have been covered which could lead to big problems.

The ground is still frozen under the snow and as that melts it will begin to pool in low areas like storm drains.

To prevent flooding, before the rain arrives be sure to clear the storm drains in your area and remove snow from the gutters as much as you can. There's still no guarantee we won't have problems, but taking these measures can help in a big way.
