[PHOTOS] Camel’s Back Park Facelift Project Underway

Have you been to Camel's Back Park lately? It may look pretty different on your next hike.

Now the temperatures are rising and some days we get the pleasure of enjoying some sunshine, I decided to take my pup, Gracie to get a little hike in. One of our favorite hiking trails is at Camel's Back Park in the North End of Boise.

Unfortunately, we couldn't make it up that steep sand hill that Camel's Back is known for, but there is a good reason. It's currently under construction. At the very top of the hill there's a big excavating machine and some big sand stones that make up new steps that lead to the top of the hill and the beginning of the awesome trail. The bottom pat of the sand chute will continue to be used as a sand trail.

The project: 'Camel's Back Chute Stabilizer,' will "increase native vegetation and [...] mitigate erosion". The project efforts began back in 2006 with a $10,000 grant from REI.

The trails will remain closed until the project is completed.
