Pets: Overheating Symptoms

Be careful when taking your pup out for walks during this heat wave, make sure you know the symptoms of overheating.

Call a vet immediately if you notice any of these symptoms:

• Glazed eyes
• excessive drooling
• stumbling / staggering
• bright or dark red tongue/gums
• increased heart reate
• vomitting, bloody diarrhea

Of course, never leave your pet in a car on a warm day!

Also walk them on the coolest parts of the day (early morning, late night). If you do take them during the day, keep them in the shade and be aware of the asphalt / concrete temperatures which can hurt their paws.

Finally, ALWAYS leave plenty of fresh clean water for them to drink.
