Oregon Man Jailed for Kidnapping Eagle Teen Through Social Media

Parents beware. This is why it scares me to death to put a smartphone in my kid's hands. A 48-year-old man contacted a 15-year-old girl from Eagle through a social media app and kidnapped her.

Andy Alan Vogt met the teen through the app MeetMe. She went missing from her families home on October 26th and was found three days later at Vogt's home in Mount Vernon, Oregon.

Vogt has been charged with kidnapping and lewd conduct with a child under the age of 16.

According to KTVB, he is currently being held on a million dollar bond in the Ada County Jail.

Investigators believe Vogt met the young girl through the MeetMe app earlier this fall and then he drove to Eagle and had illegal sexual content with her.

Parents are urged to be extra cautious about their kids using social media apps.

They say anything that allows a conversation hidden from others to go between two people. The pathways of these apps are scary dark alleyways that we need to keep our children away from.

If convicted, Vogt could spend the rest of his life in prison.
