New Idaho Laws Take Effect Wednesday

How do they affect you?

There are several new laws to abide by starting tomorrow (Wednesday 7/1). Here are some you should be aware of:

Transportation Plan ($95 million): Repair Idaho's roads and bridges

• Vehicle Registration Increase - Registering your car in Idaho will increase $21.
• Gas Tax increase - Fill your tank today, fuel tax will increase by 7 cents/gallon tomorrow.

Teacher Pay boost ($125 million)

• Rookie teachers will begin to make $1K more per year, with salaries increasing to $37,000 by 2020.

Concealed Weapons

• Beginning tomorrow, Idahoans can carry a concealed weapon outside city limits without a permit.

Idaho's Presidential Primary ($2 million)

• Idaho's Presidential Primary will now be held in March instead of May.

Idaho State Amphibian

• The Idaho giant salamander will now be the official state amphibian.
