Nampa Schools Trying to Identify Which Students Could Be a Threat

After school shootings you often hear that there were warning signs surrounding the shooter. Nampa schools are now trying to identify which students could be at risk.

Overall I think this is a good thing. I hate judging or labeling anyone, but if you look at the backgrounds of anyone who walks into a school and pulls out a gun you always find a disturbing background to some degree.

Schools in Nampa are taking a closer look at their students and trying to identify which students feel "invisible."

Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports is a program that Central Elementary School and 15 other schools in Nampa are using. According to KTVB it teaches students to be kind, respectful, and responsible.

In some schools they are also trying to identify those students who have dealt with or are dealing with trauma because that can parlay into disturbing behavior in the students future.

In my mind this is a step in the right direction. Trying to intervene with kids early who may be at risk and teaching kids how to socialize and have good relationships could be key in eliminating school shooting in the future.
