I don't know about you, but the coolest of the cool would be if you got a fighter jet named after yourself... and that's what happened!

Both Nampa and Caldwell Mayors were there Friday night.  I'm talking about a very cool dedication put on by our airmen (and women) of the 124th Fighter Wing as they named two aircraft in honor of their cities.

The A-10 Thunderbolts will now be called the Pride of Caldwell and the Pride of Nampa.

The ceremony went down at Gowen Field with lots of big wigs in attendance along with the Idaho National Guard.  Why is Nampa and Caldwell getting this recognition?  Cuz they're cool!  Hello!  I guess there's a couple other reasons too.  Major Chris Borders of the Idaho National Guard says these cities have supported the National Guard without hesitation with deployments and state emergencies.  Bottom line, that means when it's time for our boys to do their work... get out of the way and let them do their thing.  Nampa and Caldwell do that.  Sounds easy, but isn't at times.

These jets will be carrying out active missions all over the world.  1,300 airmen from all over Idaho support the missions of the A-10, with 200 of those airmen and women coming from Nampa and Caldwell.

The next Idaho city to be honored with their own jet???  Mountain Home!  We'll keep you posted.
