What is that mysterious red goo in our Boise River?  A Boise hazmat crew is trying to figure that out.

This strange substance was found and called in to the Boise Fire Department by the Department of Environmental Quality Thursday evening just after 5 o'clock.  Boise Police evacuated the area around the play waves at Whitewater Park as a precaution.  The evacuation was lifted at 7:30 p.m.

After all the testing of the mysterious substance, authorities found it non toxic but they're still unclear as to what it is.  It is not flammable and it does not have an odor.  Crews are still trying to figure out where it came from and exactly how much of it is in the Boise River.  Investigators have shut down 15th Street between Main and Idaho Streets to do more research.
