I know you're probably eating turkey sandwiches today, but we don't have leftovers at my house, so today we made pizzas with the kids. Here's my favorite recipe. I've tried several different pizza dough recipes, but this one from Williams Sonoma's "Cooking Together" cookbook is my all time favorite. It's literally foolproof and the kids have so much fun. So even though you are eating leftovers today, stash this recipe, it's a keeper!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 C. lukewarm water
  • 2 1/2 tsp. active dry yeast
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 3 C. all purpose flour (plus extra for sprinkling)
  • 1 T. salt
  • 2 T. olive oil (plus extra for greasing the bowl)

Pour the water into the bowl of a stand mixer, sprinkle with yeast and sugar. Let stand until foamy (about 5 minutes.) Add the flour, salt, and olive oil. Beat on low speed until a rough shaggy dough forms.

Sprinkle your counter with flour and knead dough for about 5 minutes. Shape dough into a ball and place in a large bowl greased with olive oil. Cover and let raise for 1 hour.

Punch down dough and divide into 4 fist sized balls. Sprinkle a baking sheet with flour, cover with kitchen towel and let raise for 30 minutes. Press each ball to deflate and stretch it to a 10 in. round crust. (This recipe makes 4 individual crusts.)

Spread with tomato sauce and toppings of your choice. Bake at 500 degrees for 10-15 minutes.

Enjoy!
