My Favorite Holiday Dish – Deviled Eggs
Check out this quick and easy recipe for deviled eggs!
I learned this recipe way back in 2nd grade, and since then deviled eggs have been a favorite during the holidays in our household. Deviled eggs are really easy to make, and even the kids can help!
This is a recipe for making a dozen deviled eggs (24 halves)
Here's what you'll need:
- 12 large eggs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
Cover eggs with cold water in a 3-quart heavy saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook eggs for about 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for about 15 more minutes. Transfer eggs to a bowl of ice and cold water to stop cooking and let stand 5 minutes.
Peel eggs and halve lengthwise. Remove yolks and mash in a bowl with a fork. Add mayonnaise, mustard, and cayenne and stir with fork until smooth, then season with salt and pepper.
After that, just take a spoon and scoop your yolk mixture into the egg halves, and you're done! You can garnish you deviled eggs with paprika, bacon bits, and fresh chives!
