My Battle In The Garden (Part 2)
After the serpent was killed, the war at home began.
As I mentioned earlier, I killed a snake over the weekend. I came inside after doing the deed expecting to be welcomed home as a hero. My tallest daughter though was heartbroken. She loves animals; she even wants to be a vet one day. But I had no idea her love of animal extended to the slithering evil that is a snake.
I went into her room later in the day and found this note she wrote to the fairies who apparently live in our garden:
For those of you who don't read "kid," it says:
"Dear Fairies,
There was a snake in my front yard. My Dad killed it. Please honor it with this grave.
Love,
Tess
P.S. It was a garter."
Well, that broke my heart. Here I thought I was protecting my family and my daughter thinks I'm a murderer. Sheesh. She even made a headstone:
Apparently even in death that snake is making my life miserable.
