300 to 400 people in the Treasure Valley are set to lose their jobs at Micron, but why?!

Micron's CEO, Mark Durcan, says the company needs to cut Micron' s workforce in Boise by 7.5 percent.

According to KTVB, layoffs at Micron started over a decade ago, back in 2005.

Mark Duran says lower selling prices for computer memory products are to blame and that the cut in jobs combined with other cost-slashing measures will save the company over $300 million in the 2017 fiscal year.

Micron's stock has also been tumbling recently.

A spokesperson for Micron released a statement that in part said, "Micron is pursuing these actions to ensure the company continues to be competitive and well-positioned for the future."
