A man from Meridian just received the "Hometown Hero Award" for saving a 6 year old boy from drowning.

Meridian resident Matt Huff was watching his child in a kids triathalon in the Tuscany subdivision on June 21st when he noticed that 6 year old Taten was in trouble.

Matt immediately scaled an 8 foot fence and jumped into the water fully clothed to save the young boy.

According to KTVB, Taten's grandfather Kreg Thomsen didn't notice Taten was struggling as quickly as Matt Huff did and he's very grateful for his quick reaction.

Huff says he's just grateful to have been at the "right place at the right time."

Taten is doing just fine these days and Matt certainly deserves the "Hometown Hero" award that he received Tuesday night at Meridian's city council meeting. Thumbs up Matt!
