Man Shoots Woman Then Kills Himself in Meridian

Tragedy just as the holiday season kicks off. A 71-year-old man has shot a 64-year-old woman and then fatally turned the gun on himself in Meridian this morning. 

According to KTVB, the woman had moved out of the house a couple weeks ago that she had shared with the unidentified 71-year-old man along Thornwood Way in Meridian.

A family member says when the woman came back to retrieve some of her belongings this morning he lured her into a room where an argument ensued and then several shots were fired.

Upon arrival, the man who appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound died at the scene while the woman is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Evidence at the scene shows the man shot the woman with a .45 caliber handgun before killing himself.
