A 14 year old from Kuna received life-threatening injuries after shooting himself during a police standoff.

The teen is a suspect in the arson fires in July that lit up two storage buildings behind an LDS church that belonged to Deseret Industries Thrift Store.

According to KTVB, the standoff started about 2 pm this afternoon. The 14 year old was known to have a handgun and refused to come out of the house of a friend of his.

There was a second teenage boy in the home, but he is out of the home and unharmed.

Police say the boy who ended up shooting himself in the standoff took two guns from family members earlier this week.

The boy is described as having life-threatening injuries. He's been transported to a local hospital and crisis negotiators are on the scene.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved.
