They are called "the lost rivers" and here's how you can find them!

First off, how did this happen? Huge, beautiful rivers swallowed up by the earth!!

The Big and Little Lost Rivers run through Lost River Valley.

The Big River comes from the Pioneer Mountains in the Salmon-Challis National Forest.

The Little River travels southeast through the Lost River Range to the west and the Lemhi Range to the east.

What essentially happened thousands of millions of years ago is Idaho started to go through some pretty major volcanic activity. The rivers were pushed south and Craters of the Moon were formed with continues flows of lava. There is a place called "The Sinks" where the rivers were essentially absorbed, BUT they continue flowing underground for over 100 miles and pour out of the rocks at Thousand Springs State Park.

How cool is that!!
