She says she jumped from the car to escape her abuser. He says she dropped her cell phone and jumped to retrieve it. Here is the story and the moment no one ever wants to face.

It happened on the streets of Burley. Details of the exact whereabouts have not been released. The woman at the center of this story says the man she was riding in the car with began hitting her in the face and that she decided to jump from the moving vehicle to escape his abuse.

Orlando Shaw, of Heyburn, Idaho has been charged with felony aggravated battery according to idahonews.com. The woman, who has not been named, is being described as severely injured. She has suffered a broken arm, facial injuries, and multiple cuts and scrapes.

Shaw admits they went for a drive and got into an argument, but he claims he never hit her. Instead, he claims she dropped her cell phone, unbuckled her seatbelt, and then jumped from the moving car to retrieve her phone. He alleges the wind caught her as she opened the door, which caused her to fall.

The preliminary hearing is set for August 10th in Cassia County Magistrate Court.
