19 Bats have tested positive for rabies in Idaho and now a man from Twin Falls has been bit!

The man (whose name is not being released) is currently being treated at a local Twin Falls hospital. He was bit by the bat on Monday and tests show the bat did indeed have rabies.

If left untreated, rabies can be fatal. It can be transmitted to humans or other animals through the bats saliva, a small scratch or a bite. The wound does not have to be large at all to transmit the disease and if you think you or one of your animals has been bit, you need to seek treatment immediately.

According to The Washington Times, the particular bat who bit the man from Twin Falls has been sent to a laboratory for testing.

If you come in contact with a bat and have any suspicions seek medical attention as soon as possible.
