A deadly head-on crash in Idaho took the life of 65-year-old Shirley Williams and the horse she was hauling in her trailer.

59-year-old Dirk Johnson has been charged with vehicular manslaughter.  Yesterday afternoon about 5 o'clock just south of Idaho Falls Johnson was driving an empty gravel truck out of a construction zone and veered into oncoming traffic on I-15.  This caused a head-on collision with his truck and a pickup hauling a trailer.  Another car was struck as well but no injuries to the occupants of that vehicle.

Williams was immediately taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where she died from injuries sustained.  The horse was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Everyone involved was wearing seat belts and Johnson was not injured.  Johnson has been booked into the Bingham County Jail.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Shirley Williams.
