Residents who live along the Snake River are preparing for flooding. Here's how bad it could get.

An ice dam is causing the Snake River to rise rapidly. Home owners along the banks are sandbagging, trying to save their homes, but authorities say they should prepare for the worse.

The ice dam is backing up drainage ditches and channels. Malheur County and Payette County residents are preparing to evacuate as a result.

According to KTVB the police department is providing free sandbags to residents and they have been told that sandbags need to be placed near entrances and in front of vents on concrete foundations. They also add that you should avoid driving near the flood area.

Keep it safe everyone, and hopefully we lose as few homes as possible.
