My favorite Christmas food is a Jewish dish.

I love Kugel.  It's a traditional Jewish dish served during Hanukkah.  I've never made it, but thanks to Barbara Walker, a good friend of the show, now I can!

Kugel Recipe (reprinted with kind permission from Barbara Walker of Emmett, ID)

Grease a 9x13 pan & Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Ingredients:
4 eggs
2 cups (16oz) large curd cottage cheese
1 cup (8oz) sour cream
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
6 TBSP melted butter
2 cups raisins (we actually use more like 3 cups....we like a LOT of raisins lol)
1 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
3 tsp vanilla extract
4 cups (32oz) extra wide egg noodles

Directions:
Cook & drain the noodles.

Mix all the other ingredients in a large bowl. Then mix in the noodles making sure to coat the noodles well with the mixture. It will be runny and gross looking but just keep going.

Pour the noodle mixture into the greased 9x13 pan. Bake for 1 hour. Check it after an hour by inserting a knife in the center; if the knife is clean then it's done, if the knife has mixture on it still then bake for another 20 minutes. Make sure to let the Kugel sit for at least 10 minutes before cutting into and serving.
