The government shutdown has now reached week No. 5. With hundreds of thousands of federal and government employees not receiving their paycheck, with some even being forced to work without pay.

Finally, congressional leaders have come to a deal to reopen our government for several weeks, until February 15.

According to a statement by President Trump in a live news conference just a few minutes ago, There will be continued talks about funding a barrier at the southern border between the U.S. and Mexico.

President Trump also promises that those furloughed workers will receive back pay for the hundreds of thousands of workers feeling the pinch of the shutdown.

Could this really be it, though? Will February 15 come and go with the government running as usual? I would love to hope so, but time will tell.

The good news, for now, is that the longest government shutdown in our country's history is over.
