A fire last night has left a Meridian family with nowhere to call home this morning. Here's what happened.

The fire broke out about 8 o'clock along West Lonesome Dove Street. According to the Meridian Fire Chief, the blaze actually started outside, in the backyard, but quickly moved to the attic.

Some partially good news is that the residents were not home at the time, the bad news is there was obviously nothing they could do to stop it.

So far a cause of the fire has not been released, but the house has been deemed a total loss.

A snake and two dogs were rescued, so that's more good news from KTVB, but one Meridian Firefighter was injured and has been transported and treated at Saint Alphonsus.

Huge thanks to the men and women who put their butts on the line when tragedies like this strike and our thoughts are with the family who has suddenly lost their home. We are very glad your pets got out o.k.
