If you Google "wood pallet diy" or "wood pallet crafts" you're going to get lost down an internet rabbit hole. The possibilities are endless when it comes to what you can do with some wooden shipping pallets and a little elbow grease:

Benches
Shelves
Headboards
Patio furniture

If it exists, you can probably make it out of a wood pallet. So, how can you procure some for free? It's super simple.

Craigslist.

If you jump on Boise Craigslist, in the "Free" section, almost every day there are places you can pick up pallets for free. Usually businesses or shipping companies will simply leave them outside to be snatched up. You can certainly go and buy wood that's finished sanded and stained, but what's the fun in that?

Obviously, use caution when purchasing/picking up something from Craigslist. If it feels sketchy, it probably is.
