Over 200 women gathered in Eagle today for a little tea and bubbly to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Tell me to dress up, give me some bubbly, and I am at your service! I had the honor of attending an "Afternoon Tea & Bubbly" to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society today.

It was so inspiring to see women gather together for such a great cause. The "tea party" was held at Chateau des Fleurs in Eagle and everyone put on their English best for the occasion. I loved how not only were we gathering together to support an incredible cause, but we gathered together as women and celebrated our strength and purpose in society.

We had the opportunity to hear 4 year old Lily's story. Lily lives here in the Treasure Valley and at 3 years old she started getting very sick. She had lots of stomach aches and was very pale. One day she told her Daddy that she couldn't walk and that's when they knew it was more than just a flu bug. Lily was diagnosed with Leukemia and will continue treatment until spring of 2017. Luckily the success rate for Leukemia sufferers is now 96% compared to 65 years ago when it was at just 3%. Lily loves to dance and have tea parties, so today two ballerinas from the Idaho Ballet paid her a visit and gifted her with a tutu, a tiara, specially autographed toe shoes, and tickets to the Idaho Ballet performance of "Peter Pan."

The event was put on by Katelyn Coffman who's father was diagnosed with Leukemia 3 years ago and who passed away just before the birth of Katelyn's 3rd son. It was a bold reminder that Leukemia and other blood cancers can affect anyone, young or old, big or small.

I loved how this event tied in so beautifully with our partnership with St. Jude. Each year we hold a radio-thon in March to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and there is no doubt that the now 96% cure rate for Leukemia is directly related to the research done at St. Jude.

If you have the opportunity to attend the "Afternoon Tea & Bubbly" next year, I would highly recommend it. Until then, you can benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by clicking HERE and you can benefit St. Jude by clicking HERE. Both are wonderful causes and don't forget that through St. Jude you have the opportunity to win a $375,000 Dream Home by purchasing a $100 raffle through June 12th.

Together we will continue to fight cancer so that one day no one has to die from this terrible disease.
