There are certain places you MUST visit in the Treasure Valley, this is one of them.

So, if you know me, you know I love to explore. There's one place I'd been wanting to go for years. Finally a couple weekends ago, I decided it was time. So I grabbed my pup, Gracie and we headed out.

Yes, we got lost.

But after getting to know a lot of backroads in the Kuna area....we made it to 'the pit'. A big hole in the ground surrounded by rocks and a metal contraption heading right into the darkness.

On the way there, I did a little research, and it turns out the cave system is an underground lava tube cave. Despite the road and the metal ladder not being maintained and the official Bureau of Land Management suggesting the general public should not visit the caves....I did it anyway.

So I made it down...slowly. And it started to get really cold. According to Wikipedia, the temperature in the cave stays around 56 degrees year-round.

Then the magic happened....check out the photos below.
