Two years ago, a girl from Emmett put her professional career on hold to chase an Olympic dream.

Megan Rolland was a full-time nurse in Boise when she decided to give it a shot.  She is currently ranked 9th in the U.S. in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase.  She recently just broke her own personal record by 27 seconds and qualified to race for a shot at the Olympics this afternoon.  She finished second in her heat today behind the #1 ranked runner in the U.S. and will now run for her Olympic qualification on Thursday.

Megan says...

"Just to be at this point, make it to the Olympic Trials, that's kind of been my big dream and goal since I made that jump," she said. "To be here is pretty exciting."

"We've had some pretty big goals the last couple of years," she said. "Last year we felt that I was pretty capable of running around that time, I just couldn't really put it together. This year, everything has kind of worked out great. I stayed on top of all the little things, and we knew before that race that I was ready to run fast. To actually get out there and do it was awesome."

Megan, we wish you the best.  You've made us proud!
