The young girl abducted and kidnapped for almost a year has become a world-renowned speaker on sex abuse and she's coming to Idaho to spread the word.

Elizabeth Smart was taken from her Salt Lake City home when she was just 14-years-old and kept captive by Brian David Mitchell and Wanda lleen Barzee who emotionally, physically, and sexually abused her over the next 9 months.

She's holding a 3-day event called "Surviving Voices" at Idaho State University December 5 through December 8.  Elizabeth's main goal is to raise awareness about sexual abuse and domestic violence.  ISU is also including a documentary screening and dance performances.

There will be round table discussions after each documentary and Elizabeth will speak about her captivity and what we can all do to help those affected and to help stop these nightmares that so many are living.

All tickets are free and specific details on each day are posted on Channel 6.
