Type 1 Diabetes.  My daughter has it.  My neighbors have it.  Many of my friends have this condition that can take away your eye sight, health, limbs, and yes, even your life.

When my little Ireland was just 10 years old we received the news.  Our lives would completely change from then on.  Constant testing, medications, needle poking, and doctor visits.  She, like many others was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  Ireland also happens to be an athlete which is part of why her blood / sugar level constantly goes way up and down.  Constant monitoring and insulin shots is what allows her to carry on as normal as she can.

Ireland takes anywhere from 6 to 12 shots a day.  She administers them herself.  She's completely responsible for how she eats, keeping track of her carbs, and getting the correct amount of insulin.

My heart breaks for her and the millions out there that live life dependent on medication in the hopes that someday, somehow, there will be a cure.

JDRF One Walk is raising money to help find that cure.  There's a Motorcycle Ride and Poker Roll here in the Treasure Valley that'll benefit those with Type 1 Diabetes.  The ride is on May 15, 2016 with registration at 11 a.m.  We'll start at Victor's Hogs and Horns in Caldwell with kick stands up at 12 noon.  At each location the motorcycle stop you'll roll the dice for a custom made knife designed by KJCUSTOM.

If you cannot ride but would like to donate, you can do so by clicking below.
