A 2-year-old toddler in Baker, Oregon picked up a gun and fired it with the bullet hitting him in the head.  The boy's name was Liam Mankins and he was immediately rushed to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise where every medical expert possible did their best without getting the best result.  Little Liam died a few hours after being admitted to the hospital.

So what happened?  How does a 2-year-old get their hands on a loaded gun?  Investigators originally gave no information as to what had taken place but have now released some details on this horrific tragedy.  Liam's parents were both at home when the shooting took place.  According to reports from KTVB, the loaded gun had not been properly secured in a safe place.  We have no idea where exactly the child found the gun in the house but it does seem that there was some neglect with the responsibility of this weapon and that ultimately led to the death of a beautiful, young boy.

An investigation by The Baker County Major Crime Team continues.  A grand jury will view this case after that investigation has completed.
